About the Client: A US-based company operating in the self-storage and unmanned facility sector. As its network of storage units and unattended locations expanded, the client required a mobile-first platform capable of managing the entire leasing process – from unit discovery and digital contract signing to secure facility access – without requiring on-site staff.
Managing storage unit rentals and facility access without on-site staff required a seamless mobile experience. Users needed the ability to browse available units, sign agreements, make payments, and unlock garage doors from a single application without human assistance.
No digital platform existed. Storage leasing and facility access relied on manual, in-person processes, limiting operational efficiency and preventing fully unmanned facility management.

Real-time communication between the mobile app and IoT-enabled garage doors required low-latency command execution, ensuring doors responded quickly whenever a user initiated an access request.
Providing physical facility access through a mobile application required strict security controls. Only verified users with active leases could trigger door commands, with authentication and lease validation performed before every access request.
As the number of storage units, facilities, and users increased, the IoT infrastructure needed to support growing device connections and access requests without affecting reliability or performance.
The platform combined three key integrations: DocuSign for digital lease agreements, a payment gateway for rental transactions, and an IoT cloud platform for remote door control, all seamlessly connected through a single React Native application.
We developed a React Native mobile application that manages the complete storage rental process, from unit discovery to facility access. Users can browse available storage units across multiple unmanned locations, viewing pricing, sizes, and availability through an intuitive marketplace interface.
Once a unit is selected, lease agreements are completed digitally through DocuSign integration, creating a secure and paperless signing experience. Payments are processed directly within the app, activating the lease immediately after successful completion.
After activation, users can access their storage units through IoT-connected door controls integrated into the app. They can remotely send open and close commands to facility garage doors, enabling secure self-service access without on-site staff. Administrators can monitor leases, access activity, and facility operations through a centralized management dashboard with real-time visibility.
